NOTICE:
PANZERMUSEUM.COM
will be CLOSING
on 15 May 2003
I regret to inform everyone
that I have decided to close down the site. It has been a lot of fun,
but now it is time for me to move on. I have informed the Deutsches
Panzermuseum Munster (via Stadt Munster) of my decision, and have offered
to transfer the domain name and the site files to whomever they may
choose.
I appreciate your support
and patronage over the years, and hope that the Panzermuseum will take
on the challenges and rewards of maintaining the site the way it truly
ought to be.
My best wishes to everyone!
Regards,
The Webmaster

The Panzermuseum is a joint establishment of the town
of Munster and Kampftruppenschule 2, the central training installation for officer
candidates and noncommissioned officers of the Armored Combat Troops. The military vehicles, weapons, and items of equipment are the property of
either the Federal Government, the city of Munster, or are on loan from other
institutions.
The major displays in the museum include:
 | A full-scale replica built to original specifications
of the German A7V "storm-tank" used by the Kaiser's Army of 1918. |
 | 40 vehicles of the former Wehrmacht (1934 through 1945):
Panzerkampfwagen I, II, III, IV, V Panther, VI Königstiger, assault
guns, hunting tanks, armored personnel carriers, armored reconnaissance vehicles, prime
movers, 3.7cm to 8.8cm anti-tank guns, tracked and wheeled armored vehicles, and unarmored
vehicles. |
 | Over 30 vehicles of the Army from 1955 to the present: motorcycles,
wheeled vehicles, armored personnel carriers, armored reconnaissance vehicles, tank
hunters, and battle tanks. |
 | German guns from 1941 to the present: handguns, machine guns, machine
pistols, anti-tank guns, and modern air defense gun systems. |
 | Nearly 100 German Army uniforms since 1866, including the original
field blouses of Rommel and Guderian. |
 | A collection of 584 modern steel helmets. |

Note: We regret that we do not
have sufficient resources yet to provide an English mirror of the museum site. However,
on-line translation services like AltaVista's
can help: just enter the appropriate URL, make sure the languages are set to "from
German" and "to English," and Babelfish will take care of the rest (but be
prepared for very rough translations!). In any case, we invite you to continue your tour! |
